POWER POINT SERVICES
From a simple swap to a new circuit for a cooktop, these are the power point jobs Newcastle homes book most.

Add outlets where the room needs them, with doubles for everyday use and quads for busy desks or TV cabinets. Existing single outlets can often be upgraded using the same wall box.

Charge phones, tablets and watches without plug packs taking up sockets. USB outlets fit a standard double-outlet space, while higher-output USB-C models can also charge some laptops beside a desk or bed.

Power decks, sheds and alfresco areas with suitable weatherproof outlets and safety-switch protection. Covers are selected for the location, with UV-stable materials and corrosion-resistant fixings considered for coastal homes.

Move an outlet from behind furniture or position it neatly behind a wall-mounted TV. Cable is extended or re-run, and the old opening is blanked or patched ready for painting.

Supply higher-demand equipment with the right outlet, cable and circuit. Options include 15 amp points for suitable equipment and three-phase outlets for workshop machinery where a three-phase supply is available.

Connect a new oven or cooktop with the correct isolation and circuit capacity. Induction upgrades are checked before the appliance arrives, including whether the switchboard needs space or additional protection.
Cracked faceplates, loose sockets and scorch marks need attention. We replace the outlet and check the wiring behind it for heat damage. For dead outlets, read our guide; for smoking or sparking, call urgently.
Power points not working
24/7 emergency electrician
Phones, laptops, kitchen appliances and TV equipment can quickly outgrow the outlets in an older home. Extra power boards and extension leads create clutter and can overload an ageing circuit.
New points go where you actually plug things in, on a circuit with capacity to spare. One licensed electrician plans, wires and tests each outlet for homes, rentals and small shops.

PLAN YOUR PLACEMENT
A little planning keeps power boards out of the way and outlets close to the things you use.
Position outlets around furniture and daily routines, so leads stay hidden and walkways stay clear.
Outlets planned around furniture, appliances and daily use
Electrical work is easy to get wrong and hard to see once the walls are closed. Here’s what you get when it’s done properly.

CHECKED BEFORE INSTALLATION
Adding outlets is only part of the job. The circuit behind them must be able to carry the load.
If the switchboard needs more room or protection, the options are explained before work starts.
We check what runs on the circuit day to day. Several high-demand appliances can overload a circuit even when there are spare sockets.
New outlets need the correct circuit protection. Older homes are checked for circuits that lack a safety switch.
Ovens, cooktops, air conditioners and workshop or pool equipment may need a separate circuit to avoid overloading shared supplies.
A new circuit needs room and appropriate protection at the board. Any required upgrade is included in the discussion before work begins.
Neat wiring and useful outlet positions, checked before handover
DONE PROPERLY
Useful positions, suitable circuits and tidy work throughout.
Heights and positions suit your furniture and appliances. Leads reach comfortably, chargers stay accessible and TV cables can sit behind the screen.
Extra points are added only where the circuit can carry the load. A dedicated circuit is recommended when the existing one is near its limit.
Roof and floor access is used wherever possible. Any unavoidable chasing or patching is explained in the quote.
List all the outlets you need, inside and out. Quoting them together reduces repeated travel and setup compared with separate call-outs.
FROM FIRST CALL TO HANDOVER
Clear steps from your first enquiry to the completed work.
We mark each point with you before drilling, checking furniture, splashbacks and door swings. Photos can help us quote straightforward jobs.
The circuit and switchboard are checked first. Your written price covers the outlets, any new circuit and agreed patching.
Cable runs through roof or floor access where possible. Double-brick and slab homes are assessed for any chasing or surface cover needed.
Each outlet is tested for correct wiring and protection. The compliance certificate is completed, dust is vacuumed and offcuts are removed.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
Call or send your details if you have another question.
The biggest factors are how many points you need, whether cable can reach them through the roof or under the floor, the wall type, the outlet style, and whether a new circuit is required. Swapping a single for a double on the same box is the simplest job, and adding several points in one visit keeps the cost per outlet down. A written quote is given before any work starts.
Almost anywhere you need one. The limits are wet-area zones near showers, baths and taps, whether the circuit has capacity, and how hard it is to get cable into the wall. Outdoor outlets are fine as long as they’re weatherproof and on a safety switch.
A 15 amp power point supplies equipment that draws more than a standard outlet can, such as larger air conditioners, welders, pool heat pumps and caravans. The plug has a wider earth pin, so it won’t fit a normal 10 amp socket, and the outlet needs a circuit and cable rated for the higher current.
No. Replacing a power point is electrical wiring work, and in NSW it must be carried out by a licensed electrician, even for a straight swap. Unlicensed work can attract heavy fines and may cause problems with your home insurance if something goes wrong.
Usually, yes. In most homes, cable is fed down from the ceiling or up from under the floor inside the wall cavity, so the only opening is for the outlet itself. Double brick and concrete walls can need a small chase, which is planned and quoted upfront.
In most cases, yes. A double outlet usually fits the existing wall box, so the swap is quick and needs no new cable. If the box or wiring behind it is old or damaged, that’s fixed at the same time.
Make a list of the rooms that need more outlets, snap a few photos, and get a written price for the lot. Call 0450 406 450 or send the details through the quote form.
